Bluebonnets locations

bluebonnets

Spring has sprung and I have the best locations for bluebonnets! I used to see so many bluebonnets on my drive to the Hill Country. However, there are spots right here in Houston.

HOUSTON AREAS

1. Stude Park

Stude Park is located in the Houston Heights right on the bayou with access to White Oak Bayou Trail. It and has a small playground area. It also has bike rentals and a community center. There is a parking available on the street and parking next to the park.

2.Terry Hershey Park

15200 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77079

There are pockets of bluebonnets around the trails. I have gotten word that there have been sightings near KBR Building.

3. White Oak Bayou:

near Loop 610 and 18th St

There are a couple of side streets where you can safely park and walk across to the bayou. Parking is usually easy, as the stretch of bluebonnets runs along T.C. Jester from W. 34th St. to Ella Blvd. There is a jogging trail between the bayou and the street, so you don’t need to worry about cars.

4. Mason Park:

541 S 75th St.

104 acres on Brays Bayou with sprouts of bluebonnets around. There is also a sports fields/courts, disc golf, a community center & pool area.

5.Willow Waterhole Greenway

5300 Dryad Dr

One of the top places for bluebonnets. They are sure to bloom early April although you may see pockets of bluebonnets across the trails

6. Mercer Botanic Gardens

22306 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX 77338:

Mercer Arboretum are county botanical gardens with an arboretum and natural areas. It is also free admission. Make sure you check their hours before going.

7. Memorial Park

6501 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77007

1,466 acres mostly inside the 610 Loop, across from the neighborhood of Memorial. You can typically find bluebonnets and other wildflowers popping up in various spots along the running trail.

8.Spotts Park

4401 S Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77007

Located in Heights. Last year there were more bluebonnets on the southeast side, past the playground area. Free lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area, but fills up quickly. Make sure you observe posted signage for parking.

Other bluebonnet locations

Here are some other locations around and outside Houston. I also found other bluebonnet spots in Austin, Texas and Brenham, Texas. My photos were taken outside of Brenham. There are fields of bluebonnets along with other wildflowers. Check out my other bluebonnet photos here

Let me know in the comments if you visit or know of more locations in Houston area! Here are some more locations outside of Houston as well. Until next time!
